Just over a month ago, I was lucky enough to receive and try out some products from the brand Kari Gran. I had read a lot about them on other blogs and knew it was a high-quality and luxurious skincare brand packaged in beautiful, deep indigo bottles.

I was sent a starter kit complete with the Cleansing Oil, Hydrating Tonic, Essential Serum, and two Lip Whips. My experience with the company has been wonderful from start to finish; the customer service is excellent, and the employees are very committed to answering any questions with pleasure. Read on for my experience with these lovely and aromatic products!

Immediately, I was taken in by the beautiful attention to detail of the package and packaging. It is clear from the get-go that Kari Gran is as luxe as any other green beauty skincare brand. Every skincare company is jumping on the cleansing oil bandwagon these days and Kari Gran is no different. The ingredients list is short and simple: organic sunflower oil, organic avocado oil, organic castor seed oil, organic lavender oil, and non-GMO vitamin E. The oil is nearly transparent, light, and fragrant. The lavender sent is comforting and soothing. Kari Gran directs using this product in the evening, making the lavender scent perfect for winding down after a long day.

I’ll admit I was tentative about slathering a bunch of oils all over my face, so I use this to remove eye makeup. I am very impressed by the efficacy and gentleness of this cleansing oil; it removes all of my eye makeup and doesn’t leave my sensitive, delicate eye area red, dry, or irritated. I remove the oil and makeup with a damp fleece and go over the area 2-3 times for a total removal of makeup. I really enjoy the way this oil feels. It leaves my eye area feeling plump, nourished, and perfectly primed for my nighttime moisturizer.

The Hydrating Tonic is available in a Rose or Lavender scent. I received the Rose. Just like the cleanser, the Tonic is composed of simple ingredients: aloe, vegetable glycerin, and essential oil. I’d say that it’s similar to a hydrosol. I like this product a lot, though it is nothing special. It doesn’t have any special features like the witch hazel in Thayer’s or the mushroom extracts in One Love Organics Vitamin D Mist. However, Kari Gran’s skincare philosophy centers on simplicity in favour of the addition of, perhaps unnecessary, bells and whistles. My favourite parts about this toner are its hydration, it doesn’t irritate my skin, I love aloe, and the high-quality of the fragrance. I can take a large inhale of roses during application to my utmost satisfaction.

Finally, the Essential Serum. This powerhouse of nourishment and multi-tasker is made with a blend of oils and essential oils to moisturizer and treat the skin. This is Kari Gran‘s priciest product and with good reason. It’s packed with oils like rosehip, jojoba, olive, camellia seed, arnica, lavender, frankincense, rose, jasmine, seabuckthorn, and ylang ylang. It’s thicker than the cleansing oil and smells absolutely divine, like an aromatic flower garden blooming in springtime. Upon application, I pick up on the lavender and rose scents immediately.

The serum is orange in colour, courtesy of the seabuckthorn oil, and I’m very impressed with how it absorbs into the skin. It doesn’t leave an unattractive greasy hue or residue on the face and can be used daytime and night. I heartily enjoy using a small pump to press into my forehead, eyelids, temples, and cheekbones. I’m still wary of applying an oil-based product on areas of my face that are prone to breakouts, but I really like this oil. It is light, fragrant, and sinks right in. It is rare to find an oil versatile enough to be worn day or night. It can also be added to mineral powder to create a tinted moisturizer, which I have yet to test out. And to help with the price point, which is really far less frightening than other green beauty serums, it’s available in 30ml or 50 ml sizes.

I love lip products and that’s no secret. I have an obscene amount of lips balms. I do not need anymore. And yet. And yet. I love these. The Naked version has become a bathroom stable that I apply underneath all of my lip colour. It is the texture of room temperature whipped butter, melts into the lips, and smells faintly of cinnamon. It is far softer than other balms I have used, so much so that I was skeptical before using it, but it is so darn effective. My lips are protected and moisturized almost half a day. I will go as far to say that it is the longest-wearing lip balm that I have ever tried. Despite the second bout of winter weather we experienced in Nashville, my lips didn’t chap or flake, and I credit that to these Lip Whips. The Tinted version is a sheer wash of pink and peppermint oil; it lives in my purse. The tint is so sheer, see the swatch in the picture above, that I would recommend picking the Naked balm over it. It is just so freaking good. I love it. The bright pink Radiant lip whip is definitely on my wish list!

Kari Gran is an absolutely lovely company with beautiful products, packaging, and an unmatched price point for its quality. I definitely recommend picking up a Lip Whip, the Cleansing Oil, and the Essential Serum if you’re in the market.
