I’m cynical enough to dismiss Valentine’s Day as a commercial invention, but I also think it’s a great time to treat (or rationalize treating) oneself. This can be such a blah time of year; the excitement of the holidays is over, winter looms like a never-ending nightmare, the days are short, and the nights are cold. If nothing else, a little break for pink and red, flowers, and some love is a welcome distraction.

I’ve had this little bottle of amore for a while now, and I thought it so appropriate to review today. When I first learned of The Lover Potion‘s release, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Tata makes one of the best smelling, if not the best smelling, skincare lines available. It’s bright, floral, and fresh all at once. I wish I could slather myself in her body oil multiple times a day and inhale it constantly: that’s how much I love the smell of Tata Harper.

So when she created a perfume, I knew that I had to have it.

IMG_3103Though the Love Potion is reminiscent of her signature scent, it is unique. It has the same fresh and floral base, but with a hint of something a bit more carnal. There’s a spice of cinnamon and hints of almond. There’s jasmine, ylang ylang, sandalwood, rose, and frankincense. She’s combined, “an aromatic blend of the world’s most potent aphrodisiac essential oils to stimulate the senses, heighten sensuality and immediately inspire an inner sense of beauty and confidence.” Oo la la!

Tata is a huge proponent of aromatherapy. In addition to the Love Potion, she’s developed Irritability and Bedtime treatment scents. I want to check out the Bedtime one next, which is a blend of clary sage, lavender, and mandarin and has received stellar reviews. Many green beauty enthusiasts swear by spritzing a Tata scent on their person and taking a huge whiff for an instant improvement in mood, stress, and disposition. As I’ve admitted, I huff the body oil. It’s just that good.

IMG_3104While I prefer the scent of the Tata Harper Revitalizing Body Oil to the Love Potion, I definitely reap the aromatherapeutic benefits of this perfume; I can inhale my wrists throughout the day for an instant lift and feeling of wellbeing. Plus, Tata does manage to bottle the smell of desire; I picked up on the sensuous undertone of this scent immediately.  Smell is some powerful stuff, and I think a spritz of this could definitely aid in setting a romantic mood 😉

The staying power is impressive, and the scent is not overpowering whatsoever. The oil-based formula helps the scent linger, and I enjoy the way it melts into my skin and melds with my own body chemistry. Because people and smells can be so particular, I highly recommend trying this one first before you purchase the full size. You can check out the Love Potion at the Tata Harper website.

If you are hankering for a signature scent from an incomparable company, check out the aromatherapy offerings of Tata Harper. Her scents are lush, fresh, and the result of organic farming done on her very own farm. They are guaranteed to improve your frame of mind in a way that’s totally natural!

And a very, very Happy Valentine’s Day <3

Have you tried and enjoyed Tata Harper scents as much as me?
